Radio la Chusma is BACK at The Rockhouse in Chuco Town! Don't miss another great night of music this time featuring the latin/rumba/flamenco rhythm of Tucsons Tesoro and the cumbia beat of local band Los Chamukos. 

Show time will be at 9:30PM (Doors will start charging at 9PM) $7 cover for 3 bands is a great price! Also The Rockhouse will be having beer specials $2 Mexican Beers (Dos Equis, Sol, Montejo, Tecate & Corona) as well as $4 BOMBS!! Radio la Chusma & Mondo Vibrations are performing January 24th at The Lodge in Santa Fe, NM!

Flyer is self explanatory $7 cover, doors open at 9PM.  Mondo Vibrations will open up the night followed by Chuco Town Frontera Reggae band Radio la Chusma! If you have not heard either band please check out the video's and reverbnation profiles in the links!

Fixed Idea's 20 Year Anniversary Show - Part 1

This past weekend was Fixed Idea's 20 year anniversary show at Tricky Falls.  I posted up a few photos on my facebook page that you can check out if you like.  I'll do a brief summary of the show because I only remember bits n' pieces of it (tequila is a helluva drug).

Mexklan opened the night with some great ska/rocksteady/jazz fusion mixed into their set.  The majority of their members played in Fixed Idea from 2000-2010 (Jaime/Bass, Rick/Drums, Mario/Keys, Maribel/Sax, Matt/Trumpet with addition of Louie/Guitar) Horn section is tight as hell and Louie murders it on guitar.  Jaime & Rick are probably the best rhythm section in the city hands down and Mario can throw some reggae bubbles like the best of them.

Radio la Chusma came up afterwards and with a few minor line up changes, David was in California with his family most notably the absence of Selina Nevarez, who left after 5 great years in RLC.  Set was energetic had the crowd dancing and played the Chusma Standards, Cumbia de Maracumbe, Rasta Mexica & of course Crusin'.  Didn't take any footage of the set because (hint I play trombone in Chusma) SOOO hopefully we get to see some photos and videos soon!

Fixed Idea was in full force with over 20 people on stage throughout their set and playing all the classics which are too many to name but they put on a hell of a show lot of familiar faces on stage and by that point into their 4th song I was a few lone stars and tequila shots in and things got hazy BUT I did manage to take a few video's SO ENJOY :)

Chuco Town Rockers - Bob Marley Tribute 4/20/2012

This post is pretty late in coming BUT decided it's about time to write it!

I've had the great pleasure of playing with some of El Paso's best musicians these past couple months, in preparation for a tribute to Bob Marley on 4/20.  This show is benefiting Casa Hogar in Ciudad Juarez as well as Lee Moore Children's Housing in El Paso on top of helping kids in Juarez/El Paso it'll benefiting the El Paso Food Bank!

Rehearsals have been at the old Brewhouse off Stevens St. in Central EP, we have members of Radio La Chusma, Fixed Idea, Dub Cartel, Mexklan, All That Bleeds, Aftermath, The Hypocrite Orchestra, Annette Rios & Cynthia Gutierrez on flute.  It's a privilege to be able to play with such diverse musicians from Reggae to Heavy Metal and everyone groove musically and play some truly inspiring music! I took some cell videos of some of our rehearsals you can view below and the show is TOMORROW! I think there will be some professional photographers as well as videographers filming it so can't wait to see how that turns out!

Shaka Toki footage from House of Rock

So had a fun night at House of Rock playing with Radio la Chusma, brought my video camera along and took some footage of Angelica Tinajero's band Shaka Toki, Geli is one of Ernie's little sisters and she was also our merch girl/jeweler when I was playing with Liquid Cheese, oh the times we had on tour haha! Anyways I also had some footage of Chusma but due to the fact I placed it in a shitty spot where there was constant lighting glares into the lens making it auto focus - out of focus the majority of the video was crap... Oh well enjoy Shaka Toki in the meantime :)
