Warsaw Poland Bros - Thanksgiving in El Paso

California based Ska/Punk/Celtic/Reggae you-name-it-they-play-it powerhouse Warsaw Poland Bros from Yucca Valley stopped in El Paso, TX Thanksgiving night and blew the roof off House of Rock off Viscount.  Radio la Chusma was the headliner and even though the show wasn't a packed house it was still fun for all that attended.  Warsaw is also a Jager sponsored band and the Jagerettes where out handing free swag to the people in attendance.  Here's a few video's I shot, stop by their facebook page and give them a like, hopefully we'll be seeing them in Chuco Town in 2013!

Fixed Idea's 20 Year Anniversary Show - Part 1

This past weekend was Fixed Idea's 20 year anniversary show at Tricky Falls.  I posted up a few photos on my facebook page that you can check out if you like.  I'll do a brief summary of the show because I only remember bits n' pieces of it (tequila is a helluva drug).

Mexklan opened the night with some great ska/rocksteady/jazz fusion mixed into their set.  The majority of their members played in Fixed Idea from 2000-2010 (Jaime/Bass, Rick/Drums, Mario/Keys, Maribel/Sax, Matt/Trumpet with addition of Louie/Guitar) Horn section is tight as hell and Louie murders it on guitar.  Jaime & Rick are probably the best rhythm section in the city hands down and Mario can throw some reggae bubbles like the best of them.

Radio la Chusma came up afterwards and with a few minor line up changes, David was in California with his family most notably the absence of Selina Nevarez, who left after 5 great years in RLC.  Set was energetic had the crowd dancing and played the Chusma Standards, Cumbia de Maracumbe, Rasta Mexica & of course Crusin'.  Didn't take any footage of the set because (hint I play trombone in Chusma) SOOO hopefully we get to see some photos and videos soon!

Fixed Idea was in full force with over 20 people on stage throughout their set and playing all the classics which are too many to name but they put on a hell of a show lot of familiar faces on stage and by that point into their 4th song I was a few lone stars and tequila shots in and things got hazy BUT I did manage to take a few video's SO ENJOY :)

Hub City Stompers at Lips Lounge - El Paso, TX

Last week I had the pleasure of checking out HCS lot of great local acts opened up the night Dub Cartel, whose got a new 2 song EP in the works started off the night with some Reggae/Rock they're up and coming and looking forward to seeing them spread their fan base and getting bigger shows.   The Ironsides & Rusty Bishops brought some punk infused craziness and got the crowd pumped and moshing, brought me back to my younger days when I used to jump in there and go ape shit (now I just hang at the bar and drink and reminese on my younger days) Second Class Citizens from Las Cruces, NM were up next and brought with them some 3rd wave ska/punk music with a 3 piece horn section and did a great performance.

So closing off the night were Hub City Stompers from New Jersey, IF you haven't heard of them then you should look at some of the youtube clips I'm about to post below and sit back and kick yourself in the ass for not coming out to Lips last week! They play a mix of skinhead reggae, punk, with a touch of traditional ska mixed in very well.  My friend Sammy who I met last year when I brought in The Forthrights & Maddie Ruthless was playing keys with HCS we caught up on the joys of touring and how the reggae/ska touring circuit is a small world of friends of friends and we're all pretty cool to hang with, I digress though, HCS fuckin' KILLED it, for a Thursday night in El Paso it was a decent crowd and I'm sure next time they come through they'll have a larger crowd (hopefully it won't be in another 5 years). Anyways it was great hanging out with these guys & girl drinking Lonestar’s in the back patio.  Mad respect to Dead Girls Booking for bring them out and keeping the scene alive!

Here’s some video’s and pictures from the show.  Should have some video's uploaded to my channel in the next couple of days so be sure to subscribe!

Punk Rock Madness at Bombardiers

Some good friends from Atlanta, GA will be coming through Chuco Town April 7th, The Bastard Suns have to be the most energetic and fun loving of guys I've met on the road and had the pleasure to see perform live!

They'll be playing at Bombardiers 109 E Castellano Dr with TBD bands, I'm hoping El Paso can come out and support these guys because they put their all into every show even if it's to playing for the staff, WHICH I hope doesn't happen (promoter flaked out on the show) So ya'll should tweet, facebook, call/text your friends & family and get some Good Friday Punk in your system and hear The Suns tear off the roof! Click the Flyer pic above and RSVP to the Facebook Event Page :)

Buenos Dias

What's up,

First post on here so I'll keep it short and detailed as possible!  I've been playing music in El Paso/Las Cruces for 10+ years and have toured with many great bands Liquid Cheese, Radio La Chusma, Crazy Fool to name a few of the bands I've had the pleasure of playing with.  It's tough playing and touring especially from the SW where you have El Paso, TX then a 45 minute drive to Las Cruces, NM then BAM! that's it! Next major city is Albuquerque, NM (3 hrs away) or Tucson (5 hr) or Austin (8+ hrs!) we're kinda stuck (Well we do have Juarez, MX but with that drug war it's not the safest place to be at night)  So I've been thinking this up for quite some time to start up a circuit around El Paso/Las Cruces that will bring in musicians on weekdays and also encourage them to bypass playing "bigger" cities and playing weekend shows here!

So if you're influenced by the same music I am into Reggae/Rocksteady/Ska/Punk all offshoots of Ska music really I'd like to help you out with booking shows in EP/LC or even hooking you up with friends and venues in Burque, Santa Fe, Taos, Austin, San Antonio, Phoenix, Tucson, Tempe, this is getting long so California, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, New York & Florida!

Hit me up on Facebook, Reverbnation, Twitter, Myspace* J/K or on here through email and what not and I'd like to help you book a tour through my barrio!
